What is Green Cleaning?

Green Cleaning is the choice of green products and procedures that are set and approved by Green Seal’s Environmental Standards. Green Seal is a non-profit organization devoted to setting environmental standards, product certification, and public education. Its mission is to work toward environmental sustainability by identifying and promoting environmentally responsible products. The organization also has purchasing & production standards and offers certification and educational programs.

The organization identifies products that are designed and manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner. Green Seal ensures consumers that any product bearing the Green Seal Certification is in fact environmentally friendly.

Green Cleaning is more than changing your product line. It is a philosophy that espouses effective cleaning techniques to create healthier buildings and to reduce the impact that you make on the environment. Other benefits: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry. USGBC works to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.

USGBC created a standard for environmentally responsible energy and environmentally designed buildings: LEED. LEED provides a complete framework for assessing building performance and meeting and promoting expertise in “green buildings.” Through LEED, the USGBC created a comprehensive system offering project certification, professional accreditation, training, and other practical resources. The USGBC also created standards for existing buildings by providing owners and operators of all existing buildings to be recognized and certified through LEED-EB. Cleaning with green solutions accounts for up to 12 points toward LEED or LEED-EB certification.
